Description
The Mexican Mint introduced the Silver Libertad Series in 1982. Initially, the coins were only available as 1 oz silver specimens and issued as such through 1990. In 1991, the mint introduced four fractional-ounce coins as demand and interest for Mexican silver was surging.
Five years later, in 1996, the Mexican Mint continued to leverage that interest with the introduction of 2 oz and 5 oz silver coins in the series. To this day, the 2 oz and 5 oz silver coins have been issued each year and the interest in these coins remains generally high compared to the fractional-ounce coins, but just below the demand for the 1 oz coin.
Obverse design elements on the 2024 2 oz Silver Libertad include the national coat of arms. You will not only the modern seal of Mexico, but also ten historic versions of the same design, with the seal at the 12-o’clock position dating all the way back to the 1541. The modern seal features a golden eagle on a prickly pear cactus as it battles a serpent.
Reverse visuals on 2024 Mexican Silver Libertad Coins include the image of Winged Victory. This design is based on the statue of Winged Victory that tops the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City and features the winged figure of the goddess Victory with a laurel wreath in one hand and broken chains in the other.
These 2024 2 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are available to you in protective plastic flips and come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The highest mintage in the 2 oz Libertad range, as of 2024, remains the 1996 debut release.
