The American Gold Eagle $5 Coins have been produced by the U.S. Mint since 1986. The passing of the Gold Bullion Act of 1985 allowed the production and circulation of American Gold Eagles. These coins are made from 1/10 oz of pure gold. In fact, the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle is the smallest official gold bullion coin of the United States. The coins have a face value of $5 dollars and are official government issues legal tender of the U.S. Government. Legendary Renaissance artist Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed the full-length figure of Lady Liberty on the coin’s obverse. The date of coinage depends on the current inventory we have in stock and will vary.

The obverse showcases the modern version of the Augustus Saint-Gaudens 1907 design of the $20 Double eagle. Lady Liberty proudly strides forward while holding a Freedom Torch and Olive Branches of Peace in her hands. Behind Liberty are rising sun rays and the U.S. Capitol building on the left. Above her is the legend, “LIBERTY,” and the year of coinage is struck on her right. The reverse features an American Bald Eagle design by Miley Busiek. An adult male eagle hovers above his nest while holding an olive branch. In the nest is the mother eagle protecting her young. Inscriptions on the reverse are, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1/10OZ FINE GOLD ~ 5 DOLLARS.” Also included are U.S. mottos, “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and, “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
