Description

The Royal Canadian Mint offered its first expansion of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Series in November 1982. It introduced the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins to join the 1 oz gold coin, and at the same time, boosted the purity of the gold in the coins from .999 to .9999. This was merely the first time the mint would alter the available options in the series.

In 1986, the mint added the 1/2 oz gold coin to the collection. In 1993, the mint added a 1/20 oz coin to the series. In 1994, there was a one-time release of 1/15 oz coin to mark the 15th anniversary of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Series. The next permanent addition to the series was the 1 Gram coin added in 2014.

For the obverse, the 2025 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins have a right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation portrait of Her Majesty used on Canadian coinage and it was designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt.

The reverse face of the 2025 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins features the popular sugar maple leaf. Designed by Walter Ott in 1979, this image remains unchanged to this day and is also used on the Silver Maple Leaf, Platinum Maple Leaf, and Palladium Maple Leaf.

As of 2014, Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins have two security features to combat counterfeiting. Radial lines are used in the background field of both the obverse and reverse sides of the coin. The reverse also includes a micro-engraved maple leaf privy with 20 inscribed in the center.

These 2025 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins come with individual protective plastic flips or sealed sheets of 40 coins from the mint. Each individual coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.

The Gold Maple Leaf is a favorite for investors due to its guaranteed quality, relatively high availability, stunning designs, and high gold content. This coin is also historic, being the first ever bullion to achieve 24-karat gold. Older Maple Leaf’s began at .999 pure gold content, but increased to .9999 shortly after.

The Royal Canadian Mint also added intriguing security features which increase investment confidence. Laser-engravings and radial lines added by the official Mint make the coin virtually impossible to counterfeit, while also adding a visually appealing element to the design.
