2021 – 30 Gram Chinese Silver Panda (BU)

$38.70

As a native of the mountainous regions of central China, the Panda Bear is universally loved. Their herbivorous, non-threatening nature, unique look, and playfulness all contribute to the perception of an extremely amiable, easy-going, and fun creature. It is no wonder that the Panda has been the feature of China’s bullion productions since its initial conception in 1982. Since then, the Panda has gone on to be globally recognized as an established, trustworthy, and highly liquid investment. With a dynamic and ever-changing reverse design since its initial release, the Panda is a collector item as much as it is an investment!

The reverse side of the 2021 Panda allows us to partake in a playful moment between a mother and its cub with the image artfully rendered using expert texturing. The coin’s denominational value and weight are also included.

The obverse side has remained unchanged, with the Hall for Abundant Prayers and Harvests in the Temple of Heaven. The UNESCO heritage is encapsulated by an outer ring containing the temple’s name in Chinese characters and the year of issue.

Description

The Chinese Silver Panda coin series debuted in 1983 with a proof quality coin, and after a suspension in 1986 it resumed in 1987 with proof and bullion coins. Today, the coin is a popular annual release that is made more popular by the use of rotating annual designs of the giant panda, and animal species intimately linked with the Peoples Republic of China.

The Chinese Panda Series is produced each year in both silver and gold, allowing collectors the choice of precious metal that best fits their budget. With the exception of 2001 and 2002, the Chinese Panda series changes its reverse design annually, depicting a different panda for each year. Collectors anxiously wait for the new design to be released but this year, it’s not just a new design to look forward to! Adhering to the metric system, the People’s Republic of China not only changed the reverse design, but also changed the weight from one ounce to 30 grams.

The Chinese Mint is the production facility of all Chinese Silver Panda coins. While its primary facility is the Shanghai Mint, the coins have no mint marks and could also be produced at Shenyang or Shenzhen.
