20 Francs Tunisia Gold Coin – Ruler: Muhammad al-Hadi Bey – 1907-1921

20 Francs Tunisia Gold Coin – Ruler: Muhammad al-Hadi Bey – 1907-1921

$635.53

The Tunisian 20 franc gold coin, also referred to as the Tunisie 20 francs, was issued by the Paris mint from 1891 to 1928 after Tunisia had become a French protectorate. This coin  is made from  21.6 karat gold and is embellished with Arabic legends and well-formed arabesque decoration. Tunisian 20 franc gold coins are relatively scarce and are highly collectable, as they were melted down and lost over time.

The obverse features the Tunisian inscriptions in the center with a shrub of leaves on each side and a beaded circle on the edge of the rim.  The reverse side features the inscriptions “TUNISIE 20 FRANCS” with the year below inside a circle that is surrounding by vines with the same beaded circle on the edge.
