Description

The Canadian Maple features Walter Ott’s iconic maple leaf design from the original Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin release in 1988. The realistic sugar maple leaf is incuse-struck into the surface of the coin. The reverse features the words “CANADA” and “FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR” as well as the purity standard of “9999”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt with the date “2021” inscribed below.  Her Majesty’s image is incuse-struck. The obverse features the date and the face value of “5 DOLLARS.”

The Royal Canadian Mint began as a branch of the Royal British Mint, but it has manufactured its own coinage since 1908. Beginning in 1988, it struck the first silver bullion coins. Canadian Maples are widely recognized for their high value and gorgeous designs. On top of that, the RCM is known for being an innovator and is among the first to strike coins with a .9999 fine silver purity. Other firsts set forth by this mint include colored, hologram, square coins, and coins featuring a special security detail.
