Inspired by centuries of royal heraldry, the latest gold coin in the Queen’s Beasts collection features the mighty Red Dragon of Wales. This 2017 1 oz Queen’s Beast Red Dragon of Wales Gold Coin is only the third release in this series.  Every coin contains 1 troy ounce of 0.9999 pure gold. Moreover, they bear a face value of 100 pounds (GBP), fully backed by the government of the United Kingdom.  Coin Designer, Jody Clark, has reimagined each design in this series – portraying the beasts in wonderful detail.

The reverses of these coins feature the Red Dragon of Wales in all its glory. It clutches a shield in its talons, while this image is encircled by the weight and purity of the gold, followed by the year of issue of this coin.  The obverse of this gold coin bears the familiar Jody Clark rendition of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This image is also used on the obverse of all official coinage in the United Kingdom. On the rim of this side – the face value of the coin ‘100 Pounds,’ and the phrases ‘D.G. REG F.D’ and ‘ELIZABETH II’ are imprinted.
