Armillary coins take their name from the armillary sphere, invented by Erathosthenes circa 200 B.C. An armillary sphere is a model of a globe that is split along it’s equator and other meridians.

The Valcambi armillary coins have the same functionality as their CombiBars – a larger sized gold coin that can be broken into smaller, fractional 1/4 oz coins without any loss of material. The four individual coins are attached to each other in concentric circles, and can be twisted to resemble an armillary sphere.

Each Platinum armillary coin is sealed in a tamper-proof display card, displaying the signature of the Certified Assayer and a unique serial number.
