Description

Queen Elizabeth II was born in London on April 21, 1926, the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York. She was christened in the chapel at Buckingham Palace. Elizabeth was educated at home with her sister Margaret. When her father succeeded to the throne in 1936, she became heir presumptive. Princess Elizabeth then began to study constitutional history and law. Due to her fathers death in 1952 she ascended to the throne.
