Each of the 2021 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins available to you here today comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are packaged individually inside of protective plastic flips or ship in multiples of 10 coins inside of protective plastic sheets.

The Royal Canadian Mint introduced the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf in 1979 with just a 1 oz gold coin available. In fact, when the first fractional weights were added to the series it wasn’t even the 1/2 oz gold coin that was included in that group. The 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf wasn’t introduced until 1986.

On the obverse of the 2021 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation effigy of the Queen to feature on Canadian currency. It was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt and depicts the Queen in right-profile relief with no crown on her head.

The reverse face of 2021 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins features the sugar maple leaf. This iconic design was created in 1979 by Walter Ott for the RCM to use on the first Gold Maple Leafs issued. The design is now used on the silver, platinum, and palladium versions of the coin as well.

Starting in 2014, the RCM introduced new security measures to the design of its major bullion coins. The obverse and reverse fields of the 2021 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins feature radial lines in the background. The reverse side also has a micro-engraved maple leaf privy with the date mark 20 inside the center of the maple leaves.

Founded in 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint is the official sovereign mint of Canada. It operates its original facility at the Ottawa Mint and a newer facility at the Winnipeg Mint. All Canadian Maple Leaf bullion coins come from the Ottawa Mint.
