The 2023 1 oz Gold American Eagle Bullion Coin from the United States Mint contains one full troy ounce of pure gold, which by law, is taken from newly mined sources in the United States. The balance of the coin’s composition consists of silver and copper, added to increase the coin’s durability and to help resist scratching and marring.   The 2023 1oz Gold American Eagle in Beautiful Uncirculated is a must have for any collector or investment portfolio.  It is one of the few coins recognized at currency on the international markets.

The American Gold Eagles introduction in 1986 was a defining moment for the United States Mint. Most of the nations gold coining history included a purity level of .900 for its circulation coins. In 1834, the federal government lowered the gold standard in coins from 22-karat crown gold to a flat .900, with all coins in circulation after 1837 boasting .900 gold only.

Gold Eagle coins have 22-karat gold content that consists of 91.67% pure gold, 3% silver, and 5.33% copper. The 1986 release of the Gold Eagle marked the first time in more than 150 years that new coins were produced with this level of purity in the US.

Lady Liberty remains on the obverse of 2023 American Gold Eagle Coins. This design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens was created in 1907 and originally featured on the Double Eagle, Americas highest denomination coin from the US Eagle circulation series. The design remained on that coin until 1933 when gold coining halted in the US.

A new American bald eagle features on the reverse of 2023 1 oz Gold Eagle Coins. This depiction of the bird captures its real-life beauty as the individual feathers of its head are visible in great detail, along with the powerful hook in its beak that it uses to capture its prey. The new design comes from Jennie Norris, a member of the US Mint Artistic Infusion Program.
